The Department of Management and Entrepreneurship in 1978, after separating from the Department of Agricultural Economics, began its activity under the name of the Department of Agricultural Economics Management. The first head of the department was appointed candidate of economic sciences, associate professor Anvarov Masud Akhmedovich. In 1980-1986, on the basis of two departments of “agricultural economics” and “management of agricultural economics”, a single department “management of agricultural economics” was created, and Ph.D., associate professor Kova-lev Viktor Kirillovich was appointed head of the department. In 1986-1997, in connection with the organization of the Audiovisual training complex (AVOK), this department was renamed to management and informatics, Nazarov Abdushukur Abdurahimovich was appointed the head of the department. In 1997, due to the restructuring of the educational unit of the university, the department was renamed to management and entrepreneurship. From 1997 to 2008, this department was headed by Candidate of Economic Sciences, Associate Professor Abdurafik Mirkamolov. From 2008 to 2019 this department was headed by Candidate of Economic Sciences, Associate Professor Islomov Gafur Khakimovich, the present, From 2019 the management of this department has been entrusted to the candidate of economic sciences, associate professor  Boboazizoda Shamshod Abdugafor.

Since the foundation of the department, such scientists as professors Bobojonov N.B., Nazarov A.A., Asrorov I.A. and Madaminov A.A., associate professors Anvarov MA, Kovalev V.K., Mirkamolov A., Akramov Sh., Mirzoyev B., Elmurodov Z., Dzhamoliddinov N., Oyev Kh., Shukurov I., Gulomov X ., Ismoilov A.A. and Islomov G.Kh. senior teachers Dustmukhamedova M.I., Safarova A.J. and Adylova N.Kh., Assistants Odiljonova N.I., Kurbonova F.K., Abbosov M., Anvarov I.M., Asenova Z., Zoirov FN, Rakhimov M.G. other.

Currently, teachers of the department according to the curriculum of specialties at the university conduct lectures and practical classes in the following subjects: management fundamentals, business fundamentals, marketing fundamentals, strategic management, financial management, enterprise management systems, innovation management and anti-crisis management.

For students in addition to special disciplines, educational classes are held. In such classes, according to the approved plan, there are lectures that educate them in the spirit of highly educated, decency, diligence and patriotism.

Educational work at the department is carried out on the basis of the national concept of education in the Republic of Tajikistan, according to policy instructions of the Founder of Peace and National Accord - the Leader of the Nation, President of the Republic of Tajikistan, and esteemed Emomali Rahmon.

In accordance with the requirements of the internal regulations of the university and the direct support of its leadership, a short course of lectures of the department’s subjects was published, and its electronic version is in the electronic library of the university.

For the effective introduction of classes and raising the level of students' knowledge, the teachers of the department prepared several guidelines, including on the implementation of term papers, graduation and master's works, work experience and syllabi developed in the context of subjects.

In recent years, teachers of the department carried out scientific work on the topic “Increasing the level of provision with managerial personnel - the basis for the development of agricultural production” based on the results of which scientific reports were prepared and scientific articles published.

Over the past fifteen years, under the guidance of teachers of the department, more than 10 post-graduate students and applicants have defended their dissertation papers for the degree of Candidate of Economic Sciences. Currently, under the guidance of teachers of the department, research work is carried out on the topic “The role of managerial personnel in ensuring sustainable development of the agricultural sector of Tajikistan (2016-2020).
