Faculty of Horticulture and Agricultural Biotechnology

Central Asian University with departments Horticulture, Viticulture and Plant Protection was founded in 1931 in the city of Khujand. Faculty of Horticulture was established in 1939, which was later combined with the Agronomy Department. Since February 1991 again began to operate as an independent faculty.  From 2000 to 2013 Faculty supervised Sc.D., Professor M.K. Karimov  Currently headed by Candidate of Agricultural Sciences, Emomov H.A.

Faculty prepares specialists in the following specialties: horticulture, forestry, plant protection, landscaping, agronomist and economist, horticultural manager. From 1991 to present the faculty has trained more than 2500 professionals who are focused on production.  On the faculty study more than 500 students. Smart students have the opportunity to continue their studies abroad and practical training. Every year, they are encouraged to enroll in graduate school.  Currently, in the faculty is one member of the Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Tajikistan, 7 doctors, professors, 12 associate professors , senior lecturers and assistants.

In the structure of the faculty acts Research Institute of Biotechnology. First in the country teachers and staff of the Faculty put into production of virus-free potato growing method of micro propagation. For scientific inventions they issued 27 patents. From the period of creation of the Faculty of the present day teachers of the faculty defended 8 doctoral and 12 master's theses. We can be proud that the inventions of scientists in industries of  Horticulture, Citrus , plant protection, plant physiology and biotechnology were honored with awards at national and international exhibitions . At this time, for the development of industries such as horticulture, viticulture, horticulture and forestry conducted research work. Faculty provided laboratories, classrooms and an area for experimental research. They are equipped with technical devices and visual aids.

The structure also has a faculty laboratory bioinsektika, floriculture, Citrus and plant protection, which are designed to hold training workshops. The Faculty has five departments: horticulture, viticulture, forestry, landscaping, plant protection, plant physiology and biotechnology. In these departments are working scientists and experienced teachers who are engaged in education and training of students and training of highly qualified specialists in the field of agribusiness.

Graduates of the Faculty of Horticulture and Viticulture after TAU can work as specialists in farms and farms joint contract. Our country has a need for highly skilled workers in the horticulture industry, horticulture and viticulture. In addition, they can work as leading experts in agriculture, in the sectors of the city government, districts and villages as a specialist in gardening.

Specialty " Forestry " is one of the most important sectors of our country and the need for young specialists. In all regions of the republic established forestry, which are sent to work graduates. TAU also graduates can work in various positions, forestry residence.

Specialty "plant protection" is one of the main branches of agriculture. Current industry professionals prepare for the activities of government, Dehkan, private farms.

Activities of specialty "Silkworm" is aimed at cooperative management industry and government organizations working in government APT, which effectively controls the technology of growing and harvesting high yield silk.

Create a new specialty "Landscaping" prepares professionals for the improvement and land management in community policing, industrial enterprises and improvement of gardens and parks in towns and cities. Graduates of this specialty in the future may work in forestry, in different structures of forestry and the environment and in the improvement of land management in the government district and the city.
