The Department of History and Law was founded in 1931. Currently, the head of the department is Candidate of Philological Sciences Jurgosiev M.J.

Teachers of the department conduct classes for students of all specialties Tajik Agrarian University named after Shirinshoh Shohtemur in the disciplines of history of modern Tajikistan, law, professional psychology, history of agricultural culture.

The main direction of the research work of the teachers of the department is "Achievements of the Tajik people during the years of Soviet power and independence of the Republic of Tajikistan." In this regard, they conduct scientific work on the following topics:• 1. Historical conclusions of political repressions in the 30s and post-war years. • 2. Scientific and cultural cooperation of Tajikistan with foreign countries during the years of Soviet power and independence of the Republic of Tajikistan.• 3. Restoration of the historical traditions of the Tajik people during the years of independence.• 4. Political and economic relations of independent Tajikistan with foreign states.• 5. Construction of grandiose constructions and successes of Independent Tajikistan.         In the course of their activities, the teachers of the department participated in various international conferences, including the scientific and practical conference in the cities of Penza, St. Petersburg (Russia), Tashkent (Uzbekistan), Kharkov (Ukraine).         Currently, the teachers of the department are conducting scientific research, in particular, the professor of the department Bobokhonov M.B. on the topic “Scientific cooperation of the Republic of Tajikistan with the countries of Western Europe”, Sharifzoda R. works on the topic “The contribution of international relations to the social and economic life of the Khatlon region in the year of independence of the Republic of Tajikistan”. Bakhorzoda S.A. on the topic: "The contribution of S. Aini to the study of the history of the Tajik people."         At the Department of "History and Law" there is a student scientific circle "Tamaddun". In recent years, university students have been actively participating in the republican Olympiads and in the Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Tajikistan on the subject of history, and win the 1st and 2nd prizes. In this year 2019, at the Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Tajikistan, a student of our university won the 3rd prize.
